Issued by: Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao, District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Visakhapatnam | Date: 08.06.2026
Today (08.06.2026), under the instructions of Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao, DMHO of Visakhapatnam, a training program was launched for female health workers in the district. Conducted in collaboration with the voluntary organization ARMMAN, the training focuses on the identification and diagnosis of high-risk pregnancy complications.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao emphasized the need to identify issues faced by pregnant women early on and to ensure that normal deliveries take place in government hospitals.
He directed health staff to interact with pregnant women and raise awareness regarding nutrition, medical check-ups, and exercise. The DMHO noted that many women and newborns suffer from illness or death due to a lack of awareness in identifying high-risk conditions.
Through the LMS application, ANMs can access training modules on high-risk pregnancies in video format. The app features discussions by senior gynecologists, medical guidelines, and quizzes. Health staff can continue to enhance their knowledge via the app even after the training concludes. Up-to-date medical information and new content regarding High-Risk Pregnancies (HRP) are also available on the app. Through the ARMMAN chatbot, ANMs can ask questions—via text or voice—regarding antenatal care (ANC) and high-risk pregnancies 24/7 and receive immediate answers.
Dr. Durga Kalyani spoke about providing better services to pregnant women, ensuring safe deliveries, preventing maternal deaths, and addressing issues such as high-risk pregnancies, anemia, hypertension, epilepsy, and diabetes. Dr. Siva Prasad from the ARMMAN organization provided training materials and briefed the participants on their duties at the village level.
The event was attended by Women's Health Officer Dr. N.V. Samatha, DPMO Dr. B. Umavathi, the Medical Officer of the Bheemili Urban Health Centre, DPHNO M. Satyavathi, ARMMAN medical officers and staff, and women health workers.
