Visakhapatnam -Indian News Times -Today (28-06-26), the Honorable State Minister for Medical and Health, Sri Satya Kumar Yadav, inaugurated the National Pulse Polio program by personally administering polio drops at the Urban Health Centre in Bhavani Gardens, Visakhapatnam district. The district administration and the Medical and Health Department have made comprehensive arrangements with the goal of administering polio drops to all 189,712 children aged 0–5 years in the district.
The program was launched this morning by the Health Minister, alongside MP Sri Bharat, District Collector Sri Abhijith Kishore, MLA Sri P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, BJP President Sri Parasurama Raju, and North In-charge Smt. Usha Kiran. The entire event took place in the presence of Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao (DMHO) and Dr. Lucy (District Immunization Officer). Officials including Dr. Ramesh (DLTO), Sri Dileep Chakravarthy (RDO, Visakhapatnam), the Zonal Commissioner (Zone 5), and staff from the Medical and Health Department, UPHC, ICDS, and GVMC worked in coordination to administer the polio drops to the children.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao announced that polio drops would be administered at all health centers and designated booths as part of the National Pulse Polio program. The Minister, the MLA, and the District Collector advised that transit teams and mobile teams should administer the vaccine to children who are traveling. A total of 209,660 vaccine doses are being administered by 4,518 vaccinators across their respective areas, with supervisors and program officers overseeing the entire process.
