One-Day Workshop on Grant Writing Successfully Conducted at St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Indian News Times:June 20, 2026: The Alumnae Association of St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Grant Writing” for faculty members on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the College Seminar Hall.

The programme commenced at 9:15 a.m. in the Seminar Hall with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Dr. Sr. Shyji, Principal, along with the distinguished resource persons and guests. The inaugural ceremony set a positive tone for the workshop, emphasizing the importance of research, innovation, and academic excellence.

The workshop was organized under the leadership of Dr. Mangaveni, President of the Alumnae Association, with the support and encouragement of Dr. Sr. Shyji, Principal, and Dr. Sr. Hema, Vice Principal, St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam.

The programme aimed to enhance the grant-writing skills of faculty members and provide practical knowledge on identifying funding opportunities, developing project proposals, preparing budgets, and formulating effective funding strategies. The sessions focused on transforming innovative ideas into successful and sustainable projects through well-structured grant proposals.

The workshop featured distinguished resource persons, including Prof. B. Nalini, Head, Department of Humanities, GITAM; Prof. Aruna Lakshmi, Co-Principal Investigator, Kidney Disease Research Project, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam; and Dr. Sangeeta, Assistant Professor of Psychology, GITAM. The experts shared valuable insights on securing research grants, proposal writing, project budgeting, and funding mechanisms.

A total of 90 faculty members from various departments participated in the workshop and actively engaged in the interactive sessions and discussions. The participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the grant application process and learned practical strategies for developing competitive proposals.

The success of the workshop was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Executive Committee of the St. Joseph’s College for Women Alumnae Association (SJCWAA). The programme was led by Dr. Mangaveni, President, SJCWAA, with Dr. Sr. Shyji, Secretary, SJCWAA and Principal, providing guidance and support throughout the event.

The Executive Committee members, Dr. Sudha, Mrs. Mary Vijaya Ratna, and Dr. Ramanilatha, played an active role in planning and coordinating the workshop. The enthusiastic support of the campus alumni team, including Dr. Sr. Latha, who served as the Master of Ceremonies, along with Sr. Jane, Sr. Depali, Veena, Sony, Nivya, Bharathi, Suneetha, Wazida, Pushpa, and Srija, contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the programme.

Special appreciation was extended to Prof. Aruna Lakshmi for her valuable contribution as a resource person and mentor. Dr. P. K. Jayalakshmi, PRO, highlighted that the workshop provided a valuable platform for faculty members to strengthen their grant-writing competencies and explore funding opportunities for research and institutional development.

The organizers emphasized the significance of grant writing in promoting research, innovation, and academic excellence. The participants appreciated the informative sessions and practical guidance provided by the resource persons.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, management, Alumnae Association members, faculty participants, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the workshop.
