Steel Executives Association* RINL - Visakhapatnam *Blood Donation Camp and Tree Plantation Organized as Part of Smruthi Divas at RINL*

Visakhapatnam: Indian News Times:13 June The Steel Executives' Association (SEA) of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, in association with Lions Blood Bank, JCI Ukkunagaram Chapter and Homibaba Cancer Hospital organized a voluntary blood donation camp and tree plantation programme at the SEA Bhavan premises in Ukkunagaram Township as part of the observance of "Smruthi Divas" fourteenth consequative year. The programme was held to pay rich tributes to the victims of the tragic accident that occurred in Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) in 2012, in which 19 employees and contract workers lost their lives.
The gathering also observed a moment of silence and expressed heartfelt condolences to the employees and contract worker who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident that occurred at RINL on 08.06.2026, in which nine employees and contract worker tragically lost their lives. The participants paid homage to the departed souls and conveyed their deepest sympathies to the bereaved families.
On the occasion, Sri M.N.V.S. Prabhakar, CMD, RINL, lit a candle and offered floral tributes to the departed souls. He also planted a sapling in the SEA Bhavan premises, symbolizing remembrance, sustainability, and commitment to a greener future.
Paying tribute to all those who lost their lives in industrial incidents, Sri M.N.V.S. Prabhakar emphasized the importance of adhering to safety standards and best practices in industrial operations. He stated that safety must remain the foremost priority at every workplace and called upon employees and stakeholders to strengthen the culture of safety across the organization.
Appreciating the blood donors for their noble gesture, the CMD lauded the efforts of SEA in organizing the blood donation camp every year as a mark of respect to the departed souls. On behalf of Lions Blood Bank, he presented a shield to the Steel Executives' Association in recognition of its contribution towards organizing the blood donation camp and promoting voluntary blood donation.

Prasad, Director (Commercial), Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Finance), Shri Subhasis Sengupta, Director (Operations), Shri Ghosh CGM works incharge RINL, Shri Sanyasayya circle inspector AP special force , senior officials of RINL, representatives of SEA Vidyut Kumar Varma, KVD Prasad, M Satyanarayana, Srikant Kalyan and EC members, union leaders Adinarayama, Mantri Rajasekhar, KSN Rao, Ramana Murty , srinivasarao Lions Blood Bank, JCI Ukkunagaram Chapter and Homibaba cancer hospital representatives also paid homage to the departed souls and planted saplings at the SEA Bhavan premises.
75 Units of blood was donated by Steel family members.
Lion M Jagannadha Rao, Satyaprakash, S Ravikumar, Mohan coordinated the program.
SEA committee sponsored lunch for two orphanages in Visakhapatnam in memory of the departed souls.
The programme reflected RINL's commitment towards remembering those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while reinforcing the values of safety, service to society, environmental stewardship, and community welfare.
