The P.V. Narasimha Rao Birth Anniversary Celebrations Committee has announced that a grand event marking the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao—former Prime Minister of India, polyglot, and a beloved son of the Telugu people—will be held in Visakhapatnam on the 28th of this month.
Visakhapatnam Indian News Times :26th June 2026 ,Committee President Keshapragada Narasimhamurthy and Convener Cheruku Ramakotaiah revealed the details of the program during a press conference held at Shankara Matham on Friday.
They lauded P.V. Narasimha Rao for steering the nation onto a path of development through his foresight and political acumen after assuming the role of Prime Minister during a period of severe economic crisis. They described him as a visionary leader who initiated economic reforms and elevated India's stature on the global stage, ensuring his enduring legacy. They stated that the event is being organized beyond the confines of politics, parties, caste, or religion, and that arrangements have been made to ensure the participation of people from all sections of society. At 9:30 AM, P.V. It was announced that after paying floral tributes to the statue of Narasimha Rao, a main meeting would be held at Hotel Dasapalla at 10:00 AM. Former Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao will preside over the event, which will be attended by Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat, TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao, BJP State President PVN Madhav, as well as leaders, public representatives, and prominent figures from the Congress, Janasena, BJP, and TDP parties. Narasimhamurthy expressed disappointment that despite repeated appeals to the government to undertake necessary repairs for the first statue of PV Narasimha Rao installed in Visakhapatnam, there was no response. Consequently, the committee decided to carry out the repairs itself and organize the birth anniversary celebrations on a grand scale. He stated that the primary objective of the celebrations is to introduce the youth to PV Narasimha Rao’s ideals and his contributions to the nation's development, and he urged the public, intellectuals, public representatives, and media personnel to attend in large numbers and make the event a success. Vedula Hanumantha Rao, Rachakonda Dasaratha Ramayya, Ganti Ravikumar, Charan Kumar, Ganti Murali, Siva Ganesh Sharma, Gadepalli Prabhakara Sastry, Vedula Ramakrishna, Nerella Kameswara Sharma, Koligatla Subrahmanyam, and others participated in the media conference.
