Visakhapatnam Indian News Times 10 June three-day Summer Workshop on “Significance of Soft Skills for Good Relationships” was inaugurated at the Seminar Hall of Gayatri Vidya Parishad Degree and PG College (Autonomous). The workshop is being organized by the Department of English and is offered free of cost (without any registration fee) to create awareness among school and college students as well as the general public.
The chief guest for the inaugural session, Dr. N. Solomon Benny, eminent educationist, Head of the Department of English, and Chairman of the PG Board of Studies, highlighted the vital role of soft skills in achieving personal and professional success in today's modern society. He explained how effective communication, proper expression of thoughts, and a positive attitude help individuals build strong and meaningful relationships. Through practical examples, he guided the participants on developing essential interpersonal skills.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Dakshinamurthy, Vice President of Gayatri Vidya Parishad, emphasized that students should not limit themselves to academic knowledge alone. He encouraged them to make the best use of such workshops to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills.
Smt. Sheshapadma, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the college, stated that soft skills have become indispensable in the changing world and play a significant role in the overall personality development of young people.
The programme was compered by Sri K. Shankar Rao. Dr. G. Vijayalakshmi, Head of the Department of English, welcomed the gathering, explained the objectives of the workshop, and introduced the chief guest to the audience.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Smt. Vedavati.
The workshop was organized under the guidance and consultation of Prof. K. S. Bose, Principal, and Sri D. Giridhar, Director (UG Programmes). Faculty members who participated in the programme included Dr. Soujanya (Department of English), Dr. Radhika (Head, Department of Mathematics), Dr. Shyamala (Department of Microbiology), Dr. Ilahi (Head, Department of Biochemistry), Dr. Anitha (Department of Hindi), and Smt. Vijayalakshmi (Department of Computer Science), among others.
Approximately 50 students from various schools and colleges participated in the workshop.
