Amalapuram: Indian News Times.Member of Parliament Harish Madhur stated that the Telugu Desam government has consistently provided welfare schemes for persons with disabilities; notably, 70 three-wheeler vehicles are now being distributed across the district, with an allocation of 10 vehicles per constituency.
Motorized vehicles were distributed to eligible beneficiaries during the event. The vehicles were handed over to selected individuals after verifying their credentials—including 10th-grade pass certificates, driving licenses, and other eligibility criteria—submitted via online applications.
An interactive session was held with the beneficiaries to understand their issues, suggestions, and feedback.
Special gratitude was expressed, commending the welfare initiatives undertaken by the alliance government—under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan—for the well-being of persons with disabilities. Gudipudi Narayanaswamy, State Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Differently-Abled and Senior Citizens Assistance Corporation, stated that the Alliance government is prioritizing self-reliance and economic independence for persons with disabilities. He mentioned that the government has distributed approximately 1,800 motorized two-wheeler scooters across the state—allocating 10 scooters to each constituency—including 70 beneficiaries across seven constituencies in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, with each scooter valued at around ₹1.20 lakh.
He emphasized that the government's resolve is to enable persons with disabilities to become self-reliant in fields such as education, employment, and business, without depending on others. He noted that the Alliance government has taken several key decisions for the welfare of persons with disabilities, including providing free travel on RTC buses, initiating measures to provide reservations in local body elections, prioritizing ground-floor allocations in TIDCO housing projects, facilitating loans for self-employment, and filling backlog job vacancies across the state. The Member of Parliament, the Corporation Chairman, and the Ramachandrapuram Marketing Yard Chairman jointly flagged off the distribution program for the motorized scooters. He participated in a program to distribute motorcycles to differently-abled individuals at the local Ambedkar Function Hall. He noted that these scooters would play a pivotal role in enhancing the mobility and improving the living standards of persons with disabilities. District Transport Officer Srinivas emphasized that a driving license is mandatory and advised the differently-abled to consult his office regarding the application process to ensure a smooth experience. Harish to allocate land for the home, noting that she currently runs the facility—housing approximately 50 elderly and differently-abled individuals—in a rented building; the MP responded that officials would discuss the matter and convey a decision. The organizers of the S.K. Old Age Home provided meals to the differently-abled individuals attending the event.
