Visakhapatnam: Indian News Times:7 July 2026,Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS), visited Hindustan Shipyard Limited on 06 July 2026. During his visit, Rear Admiral Chandrasekharan Raghuram, VSM (Retd.), Chairman & Managing Director, HSL, briefed the DCNS on the shipyard's recent achievements, ongoing projects, Infrastructure Modernisation and Capabilities.
Congratulating Team HSL on the shipyard's transformation and recent achievements, the DCNS said, "HSL has been a trusted partner of the Indian Navy for a very long time," adding that "along with the Indian Navy, HSL will be a very, very important part" of the country's growing Maritime Sector.
He stated that the Navy would like "to partner with HSL as a strategic partner and not just a construction yard," emphasising that the relationship should extend beyond ship construction to "Full Life Cycle Support, Upgrades and Mid-life Upgrades." Stressing the priorities ahead, he said,
Quality and timely delivery is very, very important.DCNS emphasised continuous investment in design capability and a skilled workforce, stating that "the most critical aspect is the experience of the people." Acknowledging that "HSL has acquired a certain amount of experience," he expressed confidence that the shipyard would continue to expand its capabilities and strengthen its role as a Strategic Partner of the Indian Navy.
