Visakhapatnam Indian News Times, July 1, 2026: The Department of Commerce, Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and PG Courses (Autonomous), Dwarakanagar Campus, inaugurated a two-day workshop on "Navigating GST" on Wednesday.
The inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest CA Mr. Prasanth Kumar, Guest of Honour CA Ms. Krishna Manojna, and Special Invitee CMA Mr. Goutham. The programme was attended by Prof. P. Rajaganapathi, Member, Gayatri Vidya Parishad Management; Shri D. Giridhar, Director, UG Courses; Dr. A. Anand, Campus In-charge Director; Ms. K. Surya Lakshmi, Head of the Department of Commerce; faculty members; and students.
Welcoming the gathering, Mrs. S. Kanchana, Convener of the Workshop, highlighted the significance and objectives of the programme. Ms. K. Surya Lakshmi, Head of the Department of Commerce, spoke about the importance of GST and informed the audience that GST Day is observed across India every year on July 1. She emphasized the need for students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the GST system.
Addressing the students, Shri D. Giridhar, Director, UG Courses, encouraged them to learn the concepts, guidelines, and various types of GST applicable in India. Prof. P. Rajaganapathi, Member of the Gayatri Vidya Parishad Management, stressed that paying taxes transparently is the responsibility of every citizen and plays a vital role in the nation's development. He also advised students to make the best use of the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals.
CMA Mr. Goutham explained that GST promotes transparency in financial transactions and helps curb black money. CA Ms. Krishna Manojna enlightened students about the diverse career opportunities available in the field of GST and taxation. Delivering the keynote address, CA Mr. Prasanth Kumar elaborated on the benefits of GST and its significant contribution to India's economic growth.
The dignitaries were felicitated during the programme. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. S. Kanchana, Convener of the Workshop.
The programme was attended by Ms. K. Surya Lakshmi, Head of the B.Com Department, Mrs. Roju, faculty members, and a large number of students.
