Visakhapatnam: Indian News Times:16 July 2026 The Sri Jagannath Swamy Rath Yatra, held on Thursday from Town Kotha Road to Purna Market, was celebrated with great grandeur. Visakhapatnam South MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivas inaugurated the procession after performing special prayers to the deity.
The event was a vibrant spectacle featuring cultural troupes, traditional *bhajan* groups, and auspicious musical ensembles; a massive crowd of devotees participated, filling the air with chants of "Jai Jagannath." The procession, which was steeped in spirituality from start to finish, saw an unprecedented turnout of devotees. MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivas walked alongside the devotees throughout the route from Town Kotha Road to Purna Market.
The procession was enlivened by traditional dances, *bhajan* performances, and auspicious music. Thousands of devotees—young and old alike—gathered to witness the Rath Yatra and were immersed in devotional ecstasy. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Vamsikrishna Srinivas stated that he had prayed for the well-being, happiness, and health of all the people of the state through the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
He stated that such spiritual celebrations further strengthen unity within society and reinforce ancient traditions. Temple Executive Officer T. Rajagopal Reddy, Board of Trustees Chairman Surada Raj Kumar, board members, senior leaders of the alliance, former corporators, prominent figures from various departments, and a large number of devotees participated in the event.
