Visakhapatnam: The 68th Foundation Day celebrations were held on a grand scale at St. Joseph’s College for Women in Visakhapatnam. Teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students, participated enthusiastically, making the event a resounding success.
Speakers noted that since its inception in 1958, the institution has rendered distinguished service in the field of education for 68 years, providing quality education to thousands of women while fostering values such as courage, discipline, self-commitment, and social responsibility.
A special prayer service was conducted as part of the Foundation Day celebrations. Faculty members fondly recalled and paid rich tributes to former principals—Sister St. Andre, Sister German Mary, Dr. Sister N.D. Veronica, and Sister Alice Mary—for their exceptional contributions to the college's development.
Speaking on the occasion, College Vice-Principal Dr. Sister Hema lauded the founders' vision, the legacy of value-based education, and their resolve to mold women into exemplary leaders. In her address, Dr. Sujatha, the Chief Advisor of the Student Council, stated that the college is making significant strides in the fields of academics, culture, and research under the leadership of the current Principal, Dr. Sister Shaiji. She highlighted that, in addition to retaining the NAAC 'A' grade, the college has secured numerous national and international awards, recognitions, and ISO certifications. She noted that the institution is achieving exemplary progress in the academic sphere by consistently organizing national and international seminars, workshops, academic programs, and skill development training sessions aimed at the holistic development of students.
Current Principal Dr. Sister Shaiji, Vice Principal Dr. Sister Hema, and Sisters Mary, Deepali, Jain, Latha, and Nancy, among others, paid tribute by offering floral respects to the portraits of former principals.
A large number of faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students participated in the event. The 68th Foundation Day celebrations concluded with the hope that the college would achieve further success and continue to serve the cause of women's education.
