Visakhapatnam :Indian News Times:On 21.07.2026, Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao, District Medical and Health Officer, Visakhapatnam, conducted surprise inspections of the Urban Health Centres (UHCs) at Buchirajupalem and Lakshmi Nagar.
Expressing displeasure over the absence of the Medical Officer at the Buchirajupalem UHC, he immediately ordered the concerned Program Officer (DPMO) to deduct one day's salary from the Medical Officer.
Subsequently, he reviewed the performance of the medical and health staff. He assessed various aspects, including EHR (Electronic Health Records), ABHA ID registration, IVRS-based service feedback, public perception, KPI indicators, RBSK services, OP/IP services, laboratory tests, medicine availability, and FRS-based attendance. He warned that daily face-based attendance would henceforth be monitored by the district office and that strict action would be taken against those failing to adhere to punctuality.
He directed that the premises of the Urban Health Centres be kept clean. He also instructed the staff to create public awareness regarding the spread of vector-borne diseases and to effectively implement the "Dry Day Friday" program. It has been warned that, henceforth, the District Medical Officer and program officers will conduct surprise inspections of 'Dry Day' activities at the field level, and action will be taken against the concerned staff if any lapses are observed.
