Visakhapatnam Indian News Times:On July 11, 2026, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao urged the Medical and Health Department staff to remain vigilant as the season for the prevalence of Malaria and Dengue has begun. As part of the 'Anti-Dengue Month' observance, an awareness rally regarding vector-borne diseases was flagged off on Saturday at the DMHO office, under the supervision of Assistant Malaria Officer B. Nagabhushana Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, the DMHO emphasized the need to identify and eliminate stagnant water sources in household surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding. He suggested executing this process according to a specific action plan. He directed staff to conduct mandatory door-to-door visits, identify individuals suffering from fever at the field level, and provide immediate medical care. He also instructed that the 'Dry Day Friday' program be strictly observed. He advised conducting joint operations with the GVMC ALO team to prevent mosquito breeding. Subsequently, a rally was held from the DMHO office to Rama Talkies via Satyam Junction.

Participants in this program included DPMO Dr. Umavathi, DIO Dr. Lucy, PO (NCD) Dr. Harika, WHO Dr. Samatha, DEMO Sri B. Nageswara Rao, and DSO Dr. Pradeep.  Dr. Shanthi (District Epidemiologist), staff from the District Medical and Health Officer's office, Malaria wing supervisors, health workers, ASHA workers, and others participated.
