Visakhapatnam: Indian News Times:Today, on 18.07.2026, in accordance with the orders of Dr. P. Jagadeeswara Rao, District Medical and Health Officer, the 'Swachh Andhra Pradesh' (Clean Andhra Pradesh) program—conducted on the third Saturday of every month—was observed at the DMHO office with the participation of District Program Officers and staff.
Subsequently, the District Program Officers and office staff cleaned the premises; specifically, they cleaned their respective desks, computers, records, windows, and doors, and removed unwanted items, cleaning both the interior and exterior of the office.
Activities such as clearing garbage heaps through voluntary labor (*Shramadan*) and planting saplings to prevent future dumping of waste in those areas were undertaken. Green dustbins are to be used for wet waste, red dustbins for dry waste, and blue dustbins for hazardous waste. Awareness was raised regarding the segregation of waste into three categories at homes, shops, schools, institutions, and other locations. District Program Officers Sri B. Nageswara Rao and Sri Bhavani Prasad (DEMO), Office Superintendent Smt. Syed Begum, Deputy HEO Sri Geddam Srinivasa Rao (MPHEO), along with medical and health staff and office personnel, participated in this program; they cleaned not only their respective sections but also the surrounding premises.
