Visakhapatnam -Indian News Times -1,july 2026 ,The Visakhapatnam Division of South Coast Railway celebrated National Doctors' Day today (July 1, 2026) at the Divisional Railway Hospital to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of the legendary physician, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, and to recognize the invaluable services rendered by doctors in safeguarding public health.
On the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra conveyed his heartfelt greetings and appreciation to all doctors and healthcare professionals for their unwavering commitment, dedication and selfless service towards the well-being of railway employees, pensioners and their families. Addressing the gathering, he lauded the medical fraternity for their tireless efforts in delivering quality healthcare and emphasized the vital role played by doctors in strengthening the healthcare delivery system of Indian Railways.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. D. Sarat Babu, at the Divisional Railway Hospital, Visakhapatnam. Senior railway officers, doctors, medical staff and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Marking the celebrations, the Divisional Railway Manager inaugurated two advanced medical facilities at the hospital—an OPTIK Surgical Operating ENT Microscope and an Advanced Diode Laser System for the treatment of Ano-Proctology and Varicose Veins. The addition of these state-of-the-art medical equipment will significantly enhance the hospital's diagnostic and surgical capabilities, enabling patients to receive advanced, minimally invasive treatment with improved precision and better clinical outcomes
