RAILWAYS TO OPERATE SPECIAL TRAINS FOR RATH YATRA-2026*

Visakhapatnam Indian News Times: 9 July 2026 ,To facilitate comfortable travel of pilgrims attending the world-famous Rath Yatra festival at Puri and to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic, Indian Railways will operate special trains between Visakhapatnam–Puri, Jagdalpur–Puri and Rayagada–Puri on select dates during July 2026.

The special trains will provide convenient travel options for devotees from Andhra Pradesh and neighboring regions to visit Puri during the festival.

1. Train No. 08551/08552 Visakhapatnam – Puri – Visakhapatnam Special Express (TOD)

The train No. 08551 Visakhapatnam – Puri Special will leave from Visakhapatnam on 15.07.2026 & 23.07.2026 at 12.30hrs which will reach Puri on the same day at 21.30hrs. 

In return direction, train No.08552 Puri – Visakhapatnam Special will leave from Puri on 17.07.2026 & 25.07.2026 at 02.30hrs (early hours) which will reach Visakhapatnam at 11.05hrs on the same day. 

The train will run via Arugul and Haripurgram, bypassing Khurda Road Junction, with stoppages at Simhachalam, Kottavalasa, Vizianagaram Junction, Chipurupalli, Ponduru, Srikakulam Road, Tilaru, Kotabommali, Naupada Junction, Palasa, Mandasa Road, Sompeta, Ichchapuram, Brahmapur, Chatrapur, Khallikote, Balugaon, Kalupadaghat, Nirakarpur, Haripurgram, Motari, Kanas Road, Delang, Jenapur Road, Birpurushottampur, Sakhi Gopal, Janakideipur and Malatipatpur before reaching Puri.

2. Train No. 08553/08554 Jagdalpur – Puri – Jagdalpur Special Express (TOD)

The train No. 08553 Jagdalpur – Puri Special will leave from Jagdalpur on 15.07.2026 & 23.07.2026 at 06.00hrs and will reach Puri at 01.40hrs (early hours) of the next day. 

In return 08554 Puri – Jagdalpur Special will leave Jagdalpur from Puri on 16.07.2026 & 24.07.2026 at 19.15hrs and will reach Jagdalpur on the next day 13.15hrs. 

The train will operate via Koraput, Rayagada, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Brahmapur and Khurda Road en route to Puri with stoppages at Amagura, Kotpar Road, Jeypore, Chhatariput, Koraput, Damanjodi, Laxmipur Road, Tikiri, Singapur Road, Rayagada, *Parvatipuram, Bobbili, Vizianagaram, Chipurupalli, Srikakulam Road, Naupada, Palasa, Mandasa Road, Sompeta, Ichchapuram,* Brahmapur, Chatrapur, Khallikote, Balugaon, Nirakarpur, Kanas Road, Delang and Sakhi Gopal before reaching puri. 

All the above special trains will comprise 12 coaches, including 6 General Second Class Coaches, 4 Sleeper Class and 2 Guard-cum-Luggage Brake Vans/ Divyangjan.

South Coast Railway appeals to passengers to make use of these special train services for a safe and comfortable journey during the Rath Yatra festival. Passengers are advised to check train timings and reservation status before commencing their journey.
