civil service celebration day

(April 21, 2026) —* Upon birth, we are all merely infants—devoid of any worldly wisdom.

No one knows what we will become as we grow into adulthood—whether we will turn out to be successful individuals who shine in life or not. No one can foresee the destinies written for us. One might be born into a wealthy family yet prove to be utterly useless; conversely, one born into a poor household could rise to heights as towering as the Himalayas. Those currently occupying high positions may, over time, plummet to the very depths of despair; meanwhile, those at the bottom of the ladder may ascend to the very top—only for these fortunes to be reversed once again. In short, ships may turn into carts, and carts may turn into ships. This "game of change" is a common occurrence in the realms of politics, business, and the film industry. Even ordinary people like us sometimes find ourselves swimming through an ocean of hardships, while at other times, we experience the very pinnacles of joy. Bhujangaraya Sharma captured this reality most meaningfully in a film lyric, describing life as a "revolving Ferris wheel of colors." He noted that neither wealth nor poverty is permanent—wealth does not endure forever, nor does destitution remain indefinitely. This song serves as a mirror reflecting the life stories of many great personalities. When we are in a favorable position, we must not become arrogant or complacent; conversely, when our fortunes dip or circumstances change, we must not sink into despair. If we slip down one step, we should strive to climb two steps higher. We must realize that no status and no situation is permanent. This is particularly true in the political arena, where even those currently occupying high positions often find themselves waiting for an appointment with those who possess the strategic skill to maneuver the pieces on the board.  Five or ten years from now—should those who are currently waiting patiently be blessed with good fortune and ascend to the highest positions—the very people who once made them run around at their beck and call may find themselves having to wait for weeks just to secure an appointment with them. What a profound reversal of fortune that would be! Furthermore, those who currently stand at the absolute pinnacle in every respect, exercising unchallenged dominance, may face a sudden and unexpected demise; consequently, a completely unforeseen individual could step in to occupy that very position. There is, therefore, absolutely no justification for arrogance or boasting when one is at the top. Sages and wise men have long ago proclaimed the absolute, undeniable truth that nothing—absolutely nothing—truly belongs to us or remains with us forever. This is a reality that everyone ought to take to heart and apply to their own lives.
