VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 28:
VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 28:Terming the foundation-laying ceremony of Google’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centre a watershed moment that would be etched in golden letters"in the State's history Palla Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday asserted that the facility definitively elevates Visakhapatnam’s stature on the global technology map.
In a comprehensive statement, Mr. Srinivasa Rao attributed this monumental stride to the long-articulated vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for a technology-driven Andhra Pradesh, which he noted has now found tangible expression. The seamless convergence of this foresight with the operational alacrity of Minister Nara Lokesh, he observed, serves as a testament to the efficacy of coordinated governance.
Positioning the one-gigawatt capacity project within a broader national framework, Mr. Srinivasa Rao stated that the State’s developmental trajectory works in tandem with the technological ambitions articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The steadfast commitment of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan coupled with Mr. Lokesh’s contemporary policy approach, has fortified the coalition government’s resolve to transform Andhra Pradesh into a nucleus for future technologies. The sheer scale of this investment, he argued, is a direct dividend of the administration's collective vision.
Calling upon the citizenry to mark April 28, 2026, as a historic inflexion point, Mr. Srinivasa Rao emphasised that the event is far more than a ceremonial beginning. “It lays the bedrock for the State’s digital future,” he remarked. Tracing a continuum from the IT revolution heralded by the establishment of HITEC City in 1997 to the present leap into AI infrastructure, he observed that Visakhapatnam—long venerated as the ‘Steel City’—is now poised to be recast as a premier AI data hub*, The Thurlapadu region, in particular, is slated to evolve into a technology precinct of international repute.
Striking a note of regional pride, Mr. Srinivasa Rao quipped that for Visakhapatnam, “G” could now well stand for Google, interpreting the massive project as a decisive rebuttal to vested interests that had allegedly sought to stymie the city's progress. Quoting Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s remarks regarding Visakhapatnam's potential to emerge as a global AI nerve centre, he characterised them as a resounding endorsement of the Chief Minister’s foresight.
The "CBN brand," he asserted, has historically served as a credible anchor for capital infusion, recalling the genesis of Cyberabad as evidence of forward-looking governance. He highlighted Mr. Lokesh’s proactive engagement with corporate brass as instrumental in translating intent into formidable investment. Highlighting sweeping administrative reforms, Mr. Srinivasa Rao stated that the State has transcended the conventional "ease of doing business" paradigm, pivoting instead toward the "speed of doing business" and the "speed of delivering governance." This, propelled by a "double-engine government," has radically accelerated developmental momentum.
In a sharp critique of the YSR Congress Party, Mr. Srinivasa Rao accused its leaders, including former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, of disseminating misinformation in an attempt to claim undue credit. Such posturing, he argued, conveniently obfuscates the exodus of investments witnessed during their tenure. He urged the public to discern the facts and recognise the State’s upward developmental trajectory.
Looking toward the horizon, Mr. Srinivasa Rao noted that an ecosystem of marquee projects—including the Bhogapuram International Airport, the South Coast Railway Zone, proposed bullet train corridors, and the holistic development of Anakapalli district—will collectively position North Andhra as one of the nation's fastest-growing economic corridors. Formidable investments by corporate behemoths such as Google, Adani, and Airtel, he added, will inextricably shape the State into a global investment destination.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister for their sustained support, Mr. Srinivasa Rao concluded that the Google initiative transcends the sheer scale of a singular project. “It is a paradigm shift, a definitive direction, and a moment in history,” he said, ensuring Visakhapatnam's resonance in the global IT lexicon for decades to come.
