IIHP Chennai and Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College Celebrate 271st World Homoeopathy Day with Service to Senior Citizens


Chennai, April 18, 2026
: The Indian Institute of Homoeopathic Physicians (IIHP), Tamil Nadu – Chennai branch, in collaboration with Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Porur, celebrated the 271st Birth Anniversary of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy. The commemorative event and subsequent free medical camp were held at the Kakkum Karangal Old Age Home in Thiruvanmiyur.

Honoring the Founder

The program commenced with dignitaries paying floral tributes and garlanding the portrait of Dr. Hahnemann. Dr. Kolli Raju, President of IIHP Tamil Nadu/Chennai and former Assistant Director In-charge of RRI Gudivada, presided over the function.

Distinguished speakers highlighted the enduring legacy of the system:

Dr. N. R. Jaya Kumar, President of the Tamil Nadu Homoeopathic Medical Council and General Secretary of IIHP Tamil Nadu, delivered the keynote address.

Dr. G. Nagendra Babu, Professor and HOD of Materia Medica at Sri Sairam Homoeopathic Medical College, delivered an insightful lecture on the life and history of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.

Dr. M. Prakash Rao, National Advisor of IIHP, addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest, explaining the scientific mechanism of homoeopathic medicines and its growing popularity across India.


Medical Camp and Community Outreach Following the formal session, a Free Homoeopathic Medical Camp was conducted specifically for the senior citizens of the home. A dedicated team of doctors provided expert consultations and diagnostic screenings:

Senior Clinical Team: Dr. Kolli Raju, Dr. Parasa Radhamma, Dr. N. R. Jaya Kumar, Dr. G. Nagendra Babu, and Dr. M. Prakash Rao.

Venkateswara Medical College Team: Dr. Sivaseran, Dr. Siva Shankari, Dr. Nivetha K., Dr. Priya Dharshini, Dr. Monisha, and Dr. Raja Rajeswari.

Over 40 residents benefited from the camp, receiving free consultations and blood sugar screenings (Post-Prandial and Random). Essential homoeopathic medicines were dispensed free of cost to all participants.

Collaborative Support

In a gesture of holistic care, Thiru Anbu from Vasan Eye Care Center (Neelangarai) joined the initiative, distributing free OPD consultation coupons and 50 percent discount cards to the patients. The program was seamlessly coordinated by Dr. D. Britto Welbert Dhas, Principal of Venkateswara Homoeopathic Medical College, with volunteer support from Mr. V. Deena Dayalan.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Thiru David Prince Manoharan, Managing Trustee of Kakkum Karangal, who expressed gratitude to the medical fraternity for their selfless service to the elderly.
