Madhusudhan Nagar Durga Temple Festivals: April 30 to May 3; Main Festival on May 10; Grand Community Feast on May 10


Visakhapatnam, April 29:
Kalimireddy Apparao, President of the Madhusudhan Nagar Seva Sangham, and Temple Chairman Seeramsetti Shankara Rao announced that the 32nd Annual Festival celebrations of Sri Kanaka Durga Ammavaru (accompanied by Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi)—located within Ward 46 of the Visakhapatnam North constituency—are being organized with great grandeur. They stated that the festivities would be celebrated magnificently over a period of four days, commencing on the 30th of this month.  It was announced that the *Kalasha Prathisthapana* (consecration of the sacred pot) ceremony will take place on the morning of Thursday, the 30th. On the morning of Friday, May 1st—between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM—*Jalabhishekam* (ritual bathing with water) and *Palabhishekam* (ritual bathing with milk) will be performed for Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga. Devotees are permitted to personally perform these *Abhishekams* for the Goddess. It was further stated that on the same day, starting from 8:30 AM, "Mass *Sahasra Kumkuma Pujas*" (collective worship involving a thousand applications of vermilion) will be conducted. It was noted that on Friday, the Goddess will grant *Darshan* (sacred viewing) to devotees adorned in a special ceremonial attire. On the morning of Saturday, the 2nd, devotees may have *Darshan* of the Goddess; in the evening, starting at 5:00 PM, the *Tiruveedhi Mahotsavam* (a grand street procession featuring the Goddess in a palanquin) will take place, accompanied by *Kolatam* (folk stick dance) and various cultural programs. It was mentioned that all worship rituals and ceremonies will be conducted under the supervision of the temple's Chief Priest, Sri Srinivas Sharma. Sunday, May 3rd, marks the main festival day for Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga, and various cultural programs are scheduled to take place on this occasion. It was announced that *Anna Samaradhana* (community feeding) will be held on Sunday, May 10th, starting at 12:00 PM. Devotees were earnestly requested to participate in large numbers in the Goddess's annual festival celebrations, seek her divine *Darshan*, and receive the sacred *Teertha* and *Prasadam*.
