Purushothaman, Director (Operations), RINL inaugurates Sri Sathya Sai Chalivendram Inaugurated at Ukkunagaram – 36 Years of Uninterrupted Selfless Service*

Dr. Salim G. Purushothaman, Director (Operations), RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, inaugurated the Sri Sathya Sai Chalivendram being run by Ukkunagaram sri Sathya sai seva samithi today at visakha general hospital bus stop in ukkunagaram steel township and appreciated the Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi for rendering selfless service to society throughout the year.

At a simple yet spiritually uplifting programme held today amidst auspicious Vedic chanting, Dr. Salim G. Purushothaman inaugurated the two-month-long Chalivendram at the Visakha Steel General Hospital bus stop.

For over 36 years, this noble initiative has been serving cool drinking water and fresh buttermilk to the public during peak summer.

He described this service as a powerful expression of love, compassion, devotion, and selfless service, reflecting the teachings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Appreciating the unwavering dedication of the Samithi, he noted that such sustained service proves that the organisation is truly with the society, for the society, and part of the society.

He suggested expanding such service points in the future to widen outreach and impact.

A unique feature of this initiative is the active participation of entire families, instilling the noble value of Seva among all age groups.

Hundreds of commuters benefit daily. Even APSRTC and private bus drivers voluntarily halt buses, enabling passengers to refresh themselves.

Sai volunteers also distribute buttermilk bottles to drivers, ensuring their well-being during extreme summer.

This Chalivendram stands as a living embodiment of love in action, compassion in practice, and unity in service.
