Aqua Farmers Protest, Demanding Action Against the 'Aqua Syndicate' System Memorandum Submitted to MLA Anandarao at the 'Praja Darb
Amalapuram : Visakha Sandesam :Under the leadership of aqua farmer leader Dendukuri Sathibabu Raju, aqua farmers marched in a rally to the 'Praja Darbar'—a prestigious initiative organized by the NDA alliance government to resolve public grievances. They submitted a memorandum to MLA Aithabatthula Anandarao, demanding a reduction in feed prices and an increase in shrimp procurement rates. The farmers raised slogans urging the government to come to the aid of aqua farmers and to take strict action against the syndicate system operated by feed manufacturing companies.
Speaking on the occasion, Sathibabu Raju expressed his outrage, stating that shrimp procurement companies and feed manufacturing companies have colluded to cripple the aqua farming sector. He alleged that these companies, acting out of spite, deliberately reduced shrimp procurement prices after the alliance government intervened to halt their arbitrary hike in feed prices. He appealed to MLA Aithabatthula Anandarao to bring this critical issue to the government's attention and to provide necessary relief to the aqua farming community.
Aqua farmer leader Nagabhushanam also spoke, lamenting that the aqua sector is currently on "ventilator support" and pleading with the MLA at the Praja Darbar to rescue it. He expressed deep anger over the fact that, because feed companies, export firms, and seed suppliers are all under the control of a single dominant entity, the market rate for 100-count shrimp plummeted from ₹275 to ₹215 within just one week. Responding to these concerns, MLA Anandarao remarked that the missteps committed by the previous YCP government have now turned into a curse plaguing the aqua farmers of today. He stated that the coalition government would stand firmly by aqua farmers and strive for their development. He also assured the aqua farmers that these issues would be resolved shortly. Alluri Ramesh Raju, Dendukuri Durgaraju, Vegiraju Venkataraju, Satti Srinu, Vasu Raju, Moturi Kiran, Adhikari Babji, and a large number of aqua farmers participated in this program.
