Aqua Sector Agitation: Call to Eradicate the Syndicate System Aqua Farmers Raise Loud Slogans at the District Collectorate
Amalapuram: IndiaNews Times:Led by district-level aqua farmer leaders Dendukuri Sathibabu Raju and Tsavatapalli Nagabhushanam, aqua farmers staged a massive protest and raised slogans outside the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector's office. Their demands included a reduction in shrimp feed prices and an immediate increase in shrimp procurement rates. Speaking on the occasion,
Dendukuri Sathibabu Raju asserted that the syndicate system has ruined the aqua sector and demanded that the government dismantle it. Tsavatapalli Nagabhushanam pointed out that the electricity subsidy promised to aqua farmers by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu remains unfulfilled, even though two years have passed since the pledge was made. He lamented that while the aqua sector is currently on a ventilator, the government remains completely indifferent to its plight. He added that aqua farmers are languishing in despair as shrimp feed prices skyrocket, while shrimp procurement rates plummet to rock bottom. Subsequently, the aqua farmer leaders stated that they submitted a formal complaint through the public grievances redressal mechanism; they noted that District Collector Mahesh Kumar responded by assuring them that he would organize a meeting with representatives from the feed manufacturing and export sectors.
