Visakhapatnam Indian News Times May 12:view of the increased passenger movement during the summer season, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway has implemented comprehensive and effective crowd management measures to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable travel for passengers.
Special teams comprising Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and Ticket Checking staff have been deployed at major stations and in trains to manage heavy rush and monitor overcrowding in long-distance trains. Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra has issued directives for effective crowd regulation and has also established a dedicated War Room for round-the-clock monitoring of passenger movement and operational coordination.
To cater to the needs of General Class passengers, Waltair Division has made elaborate arrangements for the supply of drinking water at various stations across the Division. Free drinking water facilities have been provided at platform ends in association with NGOs. Passengers requiring RO water and chilled drinking water are being encouraged to maintain queues to avoid overcrowding and ensure orderly access to facilities.
Passengers are also being encouraged to adopt digital payment methods, use QR code scanners, and avail ticketing services through the RailOne App for queue-less ticket booking and a hassle-free travel experience. Frequent announcements through the Public Address System and advance display of train positions on digital screens are being made regularly for the convenience and comfort of passengers.
In addition, Waltair Division has introduced several passenger-friendly initiatives such as Bike Rentals, Rapido Pick-up Points, and Sleeping Pods to facilitate seamless last-mile connectivity and provide enhanced convenience to arriving passengers.
Further, East Coast Railway is operating several Summer Special Trains to various destinations to clear extra passenger demand during the vacation period. All these initiatives taken by Waltair Division towards ensuring a safe, comfortable, and passenger-friendly travel experience during the summer holidays.
