Free Drinking Water Service to Train Passengers at Duvvada Railway Station by Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Samithi
Indian News Times : Visakhapatnam: Services Rendered to Passengers During Scorching Summer Within Just 2-Minute Halt Inspired by “Manava Seve Madhava Seva”
With the noble spirit of “Manava Seve Madhava Seva” (Service to Man is Service to God), members of the Duvvada Railway Users Association and senior citizens have been rendering selfless service for the past 14 days to quench the thirst of passengers travelling in general railway coaches, braving the scorching summer heat with the support of donors. The free distribution of drinking water bottles to passengers travelling in general compartments has emerged as a remarkable humanitarian service.
As part of this noble initiative, a service programme was organised today at Duvvada Railway Station with the support of Sri Sathya Sai Samithi, Ukkunagaram, Visakhapatnam, under the leadership of Sri Sanyasi Raju, Convenor of Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi.
During the brief halt of just two minutes of Amaravathi Express (Train No. 18047) travelling from Shalimar to Vasco-da-Gama at Duvvada Railway Station, around 216 passengers travelling in general coaches, including women, elderly persons, senior citizens, differently-abled persons and children, were provided free one-litre drinking water bottles.
As the halt time was very short, making it difficult for passengers to get down onto the platform and collect water, volunteers directly handed over water bottles through the doors and windows of the coaches, especially to women, elderly passengers and differently-abled persons.
Prominent participants in the programme included BRK Rao, Vishnumurthy, G.V. Prasad, Ravindra Rao, Ganesh, Appalanaidu, KVLN Reddy, Govind, Saidulu, Srinivasa Rao, Padma Raju, Venu, Appa Rao, Vijay Kumar, Eswar and several other active members of the Duvvada Railway Users Association and Sri Sathya Sai Samithi.
Sri Sathya Sai Samithi, Ukkunagaram, Visakhapatnam extended financial support for today’s service activity. The Duvvada Railway Users Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi for their generous cooperation.
The organisers also conveyed sincere thanks to all those who directly or indirectly contributed to this noble service activity and expressed hope that the public would continue to extend similar support in the future.
