Akkayyapalem, May 19:Gantla Srinubabu—Secretary of the National Journalists Association and State Leader of the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation—along with Visakhapatnam District President P. Narayana, urged the Coalition Government to strive towards fulfilling the dream of home ownership for journalists across the state. On Tuesday, an executive committee meeting was held here at a private hotel located at Akkayyapalem Junction, attended by representatives from the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation, the AP Broadcast Journalists Association, and the AP Small and Medium Newspapers Association.


Speaking at the meeting, the leaders noted that the Telangana government is currently accepting applications to allocate house plots to journalists within the newly constructed 'Future City' project in that state. They asserted that, in a similar vein, house plots should be allocated to working journalists in Andhra Pradesh as well. They recalled that, in the past, two successive governments had accepted applications from journalists through both online and offline modes; however, despite these efforts, the allocation of housing for working journalists...  They stated that the allocation of land sites has not yet taken place. Recently, they submitted their representations and apprised the situation to the State Minister for Information and Public Relations, Kolusu Parthasarathy, as well as to key leaders of the ruling alliance. Furthermore, they urged for the immediate renewal of the accident insurance policy, which is of critical importance to working journalists.



They demanded the immediate payment of health insurance premiums, emphasizing that no negligence should be shown in this regard. They announced that journalists in the Visakhapatnam district holding 'white' ration cards may contact the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) office with the necessary details. They also informed that the membership enrollment drive for the Visakhapatnam District Working Journalists Federation for the year 2026 has concluded. They stated that approximately 800 journalists have registered for membership in their union. It was resolved during the meeting that this list would be forwarded to the State Executive Committee.

Members of the Working Journalists Federation's executive committee expressed deep condolences over the passing of P. Ravikumar, a journalist hailing from the NAD area. On this occasion, they observed a moment of silence and paid rich tributes to the late Ravikumar. They conveyed their heartfelt sympathies to his family members and prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
