Gopavaram Women Protest, Demanding Employment Guarantee Works Distressed by the Lack of Work Due to the Absence of a Field Assistant

Uppalaguptam : Visakha Sandesam :Women hailing from Ravulamma Peta in Gopavaram village, Uppalaguptam Mandal, staged a protest accompanied by slogans outside the Secretariat, demanding the provision of work under the government's highly prestigious Employment Guarantee Scheme. They expressed deep distress, noting that there has been absolutely no work available under the scheme for the past two months due to the absence of a Field Assistant in the village.

The women lamented that while Ravulamma Peta is home to approximately 300 registered laborers, the Field Assistant from Saripella was appointed as the in-charge for their area; however, since that appointment, work has been provided only to a select few in the village, completely excluding the residents of Ravulamma Peta. Speaking to the media, the laborers poured out their grievances, explaining that since their livelihoods depend entirely on these employment works, the current lack of work has made it impossible for them to sustain their families. They raised slogans demanding the immediate appointment of a dedicated Field Assistant and the allocation of employment works. The residents of Ravulamma Peta unanimously appealed to officials and public representatives to intervene and resolve their issue. A large number of laborers participated in this protest, including Ambati Yedukondalu, Polamuri Archamma, Ayiti Satyavati, Kakara Ganga Ratnam, Utala Baby Sailaja, Pandu Pallalamma, Kunche Mangadevi, Talla Mani, and Mulaparti Sumathi.
