Visakhapatnam Indian News Times Today, i.e. 16.05.2026, Visakhapatnam District Medical and Health Officer Dr.P. Jagadeeswara Rao informed the press that on the occasion of World Hypertension Day on 17.05.2026, Hypertension Screening & Awareness Programs will be organized from 17.05.2026 to 23.05.2026 under the slogan “Get your blood pressure checked regularly…Let’s beat the silent killer.” “Let’s control blood pressure together…” Special Hypertension Screening and IEC programs will be organized under the auspices of the District NCD Units.

As part of this program, all government hospitals, PHCs, UPHCs and related medical officers in the district will organize special NCD screening camps for employees working in the following departments:
• Police Stations – Police personnel • Bus Stations – APSRTC personnel
• Railway Stations – Railway personnel • Other Secretariat / Government employees
• Vikasit Bharat – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission – Rural (VB-G RAM G) personnel
The following tests and services will be provided in these camps:
• Blood Pressure Screening
• Blood Sugar Screening
• Counseling on lifestyle changes
• Awareness programs on prevention and control of hypertension

On this occasion, the District Medical and Health Officer said that all the people in the district should avail this free health check-up and  He advised people to use awareness services and live a healthy and happy life.
