Let Us All Participate and Make 'Operation Clean Sweep' a Success: MLA Aithabathula Anandarao... MLA Launches 'Operation Clean Sweep' — "Let Us All Participate and Make It a Success": MLA Aithabathula Anandarao... MLA Anandarao Launches 'Operation Clean Sweep'...

Amalapuram | Visakha Sandesam
...Local MLA Aithabathula Anandarao emphasized that the success of 'Operation Clean Sweep' cannot be achieved solely through the efforts of government staff; rather, the participation of citizens is absolutely crucial. He urged everyone to keep their surroundings clean, reduce the use of plastic, and refrain from littering on the roads, requesting instead that waste be handed over directly to municipal vehicles. MLA Anandarao, along with MLC Kudipudi Suryanarayana and Municipal Commissioner Nirmala Kumar, officially flagged off 'Operation Clean Sweep' within the local town limits, joined by municipal staff at the local municipal office.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA stated that this prestigious 'Operation Clean Sweep' initiative—launched today—aims to improve sanitation across all wards within the municipal jurisdiction, with the primary objective of safeguarding public health. He further noted that, with the beautification of the town as the ultimate goal, this special drive would be implemented in a highly systematic and rigorous manner in the days to come.  It was stated that, through the conduct of daily special drives, the wards within the municipality have been divided into clusters; consequently, intensive waste collection and road-sweeping operations are being undertaken every day starting from 6:00 AM. Instructions were issued to relocate dumping yards, eliminate "black spots" (chronic waste accumulation sites), and completely clear accumulated garbage from major junctions and vacant plots within the urban areas, thereby beautifying these locations. In light of the approaching monsoon season, it was announced that desilting works for all major and internal drainage canals would be completed on a war footing to prevent water stagnation and curb mosquito breeding.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner V. Nirmal Kumar stated that extensive anti-larval measures and fogging operations would be conducted in every street to curb mosquito proliferation; this includes the spraying of chemicals as part of anti-larval drives and widespread fogging during the evening hours. To raise awareness regarding the segregation of wet and dry waste, instructions were given to organize extensive awareness sessions—facilitated by Secretariat staff and volunteers—to ensure that every household hands over wet and dry waste separately to the municipal staff. It was further noted that, to ensure this initiative does not remain merely a token exercise, a senior official has been appointed as a supervisor for the municipality. This official will conduct daily field inspections and submit reports to the government. Finally, a stern warning was issued that strict action would be taken against any staff members who fail to achieve their targets or display negligence in the discharge of their duties.  ‘Operation Clean Sweep’ in Municipalities:

The government has issued orders directing that special sanitation drives, under the banner of ‘Operation Clean Sweep,’ be conducted across all municipalities from May 22 to June 20. As part of this initiative, during the first week—specifically from the 22nd to the 28th of this month—all major roads within the towns will be cleaned. Work will be undertaken to remove garbage from road margins and vacant plots. In the second week—from the 29th of this month to June 4—all major drains, as well as smaller sewage canals, will be cleaned. During the third week—from June 5 to June 11—streets in remote areas will be cleaned, and garbage removal operations will be carried out in all residential and commercial zones, including hotels, function halls, and apartment complexes. Furthermore, in the fourth week—from June 12 to June 18—areas within the towns where garbage has accumulated will be identified and cleaned. Bonam Sathibabu, Ashetti Adibabu, Edida Srinu, Sudha Chinna, Bhaskarla Ramakrishna, municipal staff, and others participated in this program. — Anandarao.
