:Amalapuram MP Ganti Harish Balayogi participated in the study tour of the “One Nation – One Election” Joint Parliamentary Committee being held in Bengaluru from May 16 to 21. Amalapuram Parliamentarian Ganti Harish Balayogi participated in the study tour of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to examine the constitutional amendments proposed by the Central Government on the issue of “One Nation – One Election”.


In these meetings and consultation programs held under the auspices of Joint Parliamentary Committee Chairman P. P. Chowdhury in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, the committee members held extensive discussions with representatives of various political parties, constitutional experts, administrative officials, public representatives and representatives of civil society.


On the first day of the study tour, the committee met with senior officials of the Karnataka government as well as representatives of Canara Bank, HAL, BEL, BEML, BHEL, KIOCL, KPL, ITI Limited, NLSIU and IIM Bangalore. It is reported that discussions were held on various aspects of administrative, organizational, election management and governance issues related to the conduct of contemporary elections. The committee also held extensive consultations with various political parties and regional groups from Karnataka. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar participated in the meeting and explained the views of the Congress party before the committee, while senior leaders and representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (Secular) and Aam Aadmi Party also expressed their views.  The committee has studied the issues related to “The Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill 2024” and “Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill – 2024” from various angles. It is learnt that the meeting discussed in detail the constitutional, administrative, financial and preservation of the federal system issues related to the proposal to hold simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly elections across the country. It is learnt that issues like the burden on the administration due to holding frequent elections, the disruption of development programmes due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, and the reduction of government expenditure were discussed. At the same time, it seems that many people also expressed their views on issues like the federal system, the priority of regional parties, and the protection of the rights of states. On this occasion, Amalapuram MP Ganti Harish Balayogi, who participated as a member of the committee, said that the committee will study every issue related to the strengthening of the country’s democratic system in detail and prepare its report after considering the views of all sections. The Joint Parliamentary Committee is studying this issue, which is important for the future electoral system of the country, in various states of the country.  He said the tours are continuing.
