NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY CELEBRATIONS (NTDC) AT NSTL

:Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), the premier naval 

research laboratory of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), 

Visakhapatnam celebrated National Technology Day on 11 May 2026. 11 May 

is a day of significant milestone in the history of Indian Technological Innovations 

as India successfully carried out the Pokhran -II nuclear tests on this day on 

1998, and is commemorated every year by honouring the architects of such 

innovations.

Prof M Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam attended as the Chief 

Guest of the function.

Shri S L Srinivas, Scientist ‘F’ & Chairman of NTDC-2026 gave the 

welcome address. Dr. Abraham Varughese, OS & Director, NSTL highlighted 

the theme of this year – “Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth”

underscoring the importance of the modern technologies such as artificial 

technologies, quantum technologies and digital tools for benefit of all. Chief 

Guest addressed the gathering on this occasion.

Every year, on this occasion, a Titanium Medal is awarded to scientists for 

their outstanding work in R&D. This year, Shri Gopal Krishna Sahu, Scientist-G

has been awarded this medal and Commendation Certificate for his work on 

“Design and Evaluation of Air Droppable Container (ADC) System for 

Emergency Naval Logistics”. 

Scientists, Officers, Members of NSTL Civil Employees Union, Works 

Committee; and Staff of NSTL participated in the celebrations.
