The Murder of Veethi Subrahmanyam and the Harassment of Dr. Sudhakar Stand as Proof of YCP's Abuse of Power: MLA Aithabathula Anandarao... Living Testimonies of Atrocities and Oppression Against Dalits... MLA Anandarao Expresses Outrage at Press Meet.

Amalapuram: Indian News Times:...A press conference was held on Tuesday at the MLA's camp office in the Housing Board Colony, Amalapuram town, to address the *atrocities, oppression, and systemic injustice inflicted upon the Dalit community* under YCP rule. Participating in this meeting,

MLA Aithabathula Anandarao strongly condemned the major acts of violence committed against Scheduled Castes (SCs) during the YCP regime. He expressed deep anguish over the complete lack of security for Dalit youth—as well as the absence of due respect for their labor—during the tenure of the previous government. The MLA asserted that the incidents involving Veethi Subrahmanyam and Dr. Sudhakar serve as living testimonies demonstrating how the YCP rulers abused their political authority and acted without any accountability. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Anandarao recalled the allegations surrounding the brutal murder of Veethi Subrahmanyam—a Dalit youth who had worked as a former driver for a YCP MLC—stating that he was killed following a dispute that arose with the said MLC. He lashed out at the perpetrators, noting that they had brought the victim's body and dumped it right at his home, initially making a conspiratorial attempt to pass the incident off as a road accident. However, he pointed out that investigations subsequently revealed the victim had died as a result of severe physical assault, and he urged the public to take note of this atrocity, which was allegedly committed with political backing.  Furthermore, he expressed outrage over the brutal harassment inflicted upon Dr. Sudhakar—a government anesthesiologist belonging to the SC community—for raising concerns regarding the shortage of PPE kits and advocating for public safety during the critical period of the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that Dr. Sudhakar was not only suspended but also publicly arrested and humiliated; he asserted that Dr. Sudhakar remains a symbolic figure illustrating how dissenting voices were stifled and how Dalit professionals were targeted under the YCP regime. He announced that, starting today (May 19), commemorative programs and public gatherings would be organized over a three-day period (May 19, 20, and 21) across the constituency—particularly in SC colonies—to raise awareness among Dalit youth associations, healthcare professionals, and local communities regarding these atrocities and instances of systemic injustice. As part of this initiative, he stated that candlelit vigils, the installation of memorial markers, and free health camps would be organized at the colony level in memory of Dr. Sudhakar. MLA Ananda Rao issued a call for Dalit rights organizations, local youth, and the general public to stand united against the persistent intimidation and atrocities directed at Dalits, professionals, and economically backward sections of society.

He emphasized that everyone is equal before the law and made it clear that their struggle would continue unabated until the victims receive justice and their dignity is restored.  Allada Swamy Naidu, Pechetti Vijayalakshmi, Adhikari Jayalakshmi, Pechetti Chandramouli, Dendukuri Sathibabu Raju, Vegiraju Venkataraju, Sudha Chinna, Gaddayya, Polamuri Dharmapal, Rajalapudi Bhimudu, Suribabu, constituency public representatives, leaders of the SC wing, representatives of Dalit youth associations, and local leaders participated in this program in large numbers.
