Ensure fair wages for labor: Ainavilli coconut de-husking workers lodge complaint via Collector's PGRS

Amalapuram :Indian News Times :Coconut de-husking workers from Ainavilli Mandal in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, led by Kadali Suryanarayana (President of the Coconut De-husking Workers' Association), submitted a grievance through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) at the District Collector's office and lodged a formal complaint with District Revenue Officer V. Subbarao, demanding wages commensurate with their labor. Nedunuri Lavaraju, President of the Sri Vinayaka De-husking Workers' Association, stated that there are approximately 4,000 workers across 11 associations in the mandal. He explained that while the coconut traders' association usually holds a meeting every two years on August 14th, the meeting held on August 16th this year resulted in an unsatisfactory decision; instead of offering fair wages, the traders proposed a staggered increase over two or three phases. Consequently, the workers halted operations on the 15th.

 He noted that despite 12 days having passed, the traders have not come forward for discussions, and he urged district officials to intervene and resolve the issue. Dakarapu Satya Prakash, President of the Sri Uma Maheswara De-husking Workers' Association (Chintallanka), warned that if the issue regarding the workers' wages is not resolved immediately, they are prepared to launch a hunger protest alongside their families. Others who participated in the program included Guthula Bhimeswara Rao, Taritla Satyanarayana, Mattaparthi Subrahmanyam, Mallavarapu Nagaraju, Yadla Ramesh Babu, Kunche Satyanarayana, and Kusume Suresh.
