GM SCoR Holds Safety Review Meeting; Emphasises Safety and Improvement of Passenger & Freight Facilities* General Manager, South Coast Railway, Shri Sandeep Mathur, conducted a comprehensive Safety Review Meeting today with the Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of all four divisions of South Coast Railway. The meeting focused on strengthening safety across the railway network and reviewing ongoing initiatives aimed at improving railway infrastructure and operational efficiency. Detailed discussions were held on Engineering works, Goods Shed improvements and Parcel Office facilities, with emphasis on timely completion, quality of works and adherence to prescribed safety standards. Shri Sandeep Mathur reviewed the progress of various Engineering works and stressed the need for close monitoring of works to ensure that all activities are executed safely and efficiently. He also emphasised the importance of improving facilities at Goods Sheds and Parcel Offices to enhance operational efficiency and provide better services to freight and parcel customers. General Manager reiterated that safety remains the foremost priority of South Coast Railway and directed the officials to maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and continuously identify and address potential safety risks. During the meeting, Safety Awards were presented to staff members who had performed commendable and exemplary work in the field of railway safety. *The awardees were:* Shri B. Venkata Rao, Track Maintainer-IV, Tuni (Vijayawada Division) – detected a rail fracture during night patrolling and promptly protected the track, enabling timely repairs and averting a potential major mishap. Shri V. Veera Brahmam, Station Master, Gundlakamma (Guntur Division) – detected a hot axle in a goods train, alerted the Loco Pilot and ensured the affected wagon was detached, thereby averting a possible accident.

Shri Jai Singh Meena, Goods Train Manager, Simhachalam North (Visakhapatnam Division) – noticed a hanging metal strap touching the OHE and causing flashover, promptly stopped the train and secured the strap, preventing a possible OHE-related incident.

Congratulating the awardees, the General Manager appreciated their alertness, presence of mind and sense of responsibility, stating that such exemplary actions demonstrate the importance of individual vigilance in ensuring safe train operations. He encouraged all railway employees to remain proactive and vigilant in the discharge of their duties and to make safety their foremost priority.
