GM SCoR INSPECTS PASSENGER AMENITIES AND SARIKA AI SYSTEM AT VISAKHAPATNAM RAILWAY STATION*

Visakhaptnam : Indian News Times:Shri Sandeep Mathur, General Manager, South Coast Railway, inspected various passenger amenities and facilities at Visakhapatnam Railway Station today, along with Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Visakhapatnam accompanied by Senior Officials from Zone. During the inspection, the General Manager reviewed the availability and functioning of passenger facilities and interacted with railway officials regarding measures to further improve passenger convenience and the overall station experience. He also inspected the Sarika AI passenger assistance system (Proto type) and examined its working in a live station environment.

Sarika AI is an Artificial Intelligence-based passenger enquiry and assistance system jointly developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), Ninja Media AI Ad Tech Pvt. Ltd. and the Commercial Department of Visakhapatnam Division. This is prototype and demonstration basis under a pilot project.  The system enables passengers to interact through natural voice-based communication and obtain information relating to train arrivals and departures, platform numbers, running status, delays, coach position and other railway-related information. It can also assist passengers with information about station facilities such as ticket and reservation counters, waiting halls, cloak rooms, lifts, escalators, foot overbridges, medical assistance, drinking water, washrooms, food courts, parking and wheelchair assistance. The system is designed to respond in nine different languages, making railway information more accessible to passengers from different linguistic backgrounds. The system is available in two formats — humanoid type and kiosk type — to facilitate passenger interaction at suitable locations within the station.

During the inspection, GM SCoR Shri Sandeep Mathur suggested certain user-friendly modifications to further improve the system and make passenger interaction more convenient, which will be examined. The Sarika AI system is presently being implemented as Phase-I of the project, which involves demonstration & proto type and Phase-II of the project envisages integration with the RailOne App.
