Medicover Hospitals Achieves Milestone: First Successful Percutaneous Image-Guided Renal Tumor Cryoablation in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana*

Visakhapatnam: Indian News Times: Medicover Hospitals, MVP, Visakhapatnam, has achieved another rare medical milestone. It successfully performed Percutaneous Image-Guided Renal Tumor Cryoablation—a first for the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

This state-of-the-art, minimally invasive procedure was successfully executed using image guidance by the Radiology and Interventional Radiology team—led by Prof. Dr. Devara Anil Kasi Vishnuvardhan, Senior Consultant Interventional Radiologist—in collaboration with the Anesthesia team.

Renal tumor cryoablation is a modern treatment method that destroys a kidney tumor by freezing it at extremely low temperatures using a specialized cryoprobe inserted through a small skin puncture. This procedure allows for the effective elimination of the tumor without the need for major surgery. It offers numerous benefits, including the preservation of healthy kidney tissue, reduced pain and bleeding, a shorter hospital stay, and a faster recovery for the patient.  Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Devara Anil Kasi Vishnuvardhan said, "I am delighted to bring world-class, minimally invasive kidney cancer treatment to the people of our region. This prestigious medical procedure was successfully performed by Senior Interventional Radiologist Professor Dr. Devara Anil Kasi Vishnuvardhan. He was supported by a team comprising Dr. Gorli Divya Rani (MD), Dr. Sai Padmini Mahapatra (DNB, FICR), Dr. V. Chenna Krishna Rao (DNB), Dr. Rajasekhar (Head of Anesthesia), and the entire medical staff.
