Ensure Effective Implementation of De-worming Day on the 25th District Joint Collector G. Vidyadari (IAS) Instructs Officials

Visakhapatnam- Indian News Times- September 21:District Joint Collector G. Vidyadari has directed officials to ensure the effective implementation of the De-worming Day program, scheduled for the 25th of this month, with the aim of eradicating intestinal worms among children. She instructed that the necessary Albendazole tablets be made available and distributed without fail to every eligible child.

On Monday morning, the District Joint Collector held a coordination meeting with officials from various departments at the Collectorate conference hall to provide guidance on the De-worming Day operations planned across the district. During the meeting, she offered specific instructions regarding the program's implementation.
Noting that 5,74,496 children are enrolled in various government and private schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers across the district, the Joint Collector directed that Albendazole tablets be provided free of cost to children and students aged 1 to 19 years. She instructed that for children aged 1 to 2 years, half a tablet should be dissolved in water and administered, while for those aged 2 to 3 years, a full tablet should be dissolved in water. For those aged 3 to 19 years, she directed officials to ensure the full tablet is chewed or sucked.  The Joint Collector clarified that Albendazole tablets should be administered half an hour after the midday meal and directed the district administration to make all necessary arrangements to ensure the program runs smoothly without any lapses. He emphasized the need to pay special attention to ensure that every eligible child receives the tablet.
District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) P. Jagadeeswara Rao stated that there are no adverse effects associated with taking the tablet. The Joint Collector ordered that children who, for any reason, could not take the tablet on September 25, 2026, must be administered the Albendazole tablet during the 'mop-up round' scheduled for October 5, 2026.
The Joint Collector urged the departments of Education, Health, and Welfare, along with other relevant departments, to work in coordination to make the De-worming Day program a success. Subsequently, the Joint Collector and other officials unveiled the poster for the De-worming Day program.
District Revenue Officer (DRO) M.V. Naidu, KGH Superintendent Dr. I. Vani, DMHO P. Jagadeeswara Rao, Additional DMHO Dr. R. Ramesh, DCHS Dr. Narendra Singh, Program Officer Dr. B. Harika, and district-level officials from various departments participated in the meeting.
