Visakhapatnam- indian News Times -August 24: The Department of Second Languages of St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, organised “Pratibha 2K26,” an Inter-Collegiate Academic Fest, featuring a vibrant array of talent competitions on August 24.More than 170 students from various colleges across Visakhapatnam enthusiastically participated in the competitions and showcased their creativity, talent and skills. A wide range of events focusing on language, literature, culture and creativity provided the participants with an excellent platform to demonstrate their abilities and competitive spirit.Addressing the gathering, Principal Rev. Dr. Sr. Shyji P.D. said that such platforms are essential to identify and nurture the hidden talents of students and provide them with opportunities to showcase their abilities. She expressed her special gratitude to the college management for providing the opportunity to organise the event and appreciated the faculty, staff and students for their valuable support in making the programme a success.
Dr. Ommi Rama Rao, the Chief Guest, addressed the students and said that inter-collegiate events play a significant role in bringing out the hidden talents of young learners. Such programmes, he added, help develop self-confidence, creative thinking, leadership qualities and a healthy competitive spirit among students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. J. Nirmala, Head of the Department of Second Languages, stated that the Academic Fest was organised with the objective of providing a wider platform for students to explore and exhibit their talents. She highlighted that languages are not merely tools of communication but also play a vital role in developing students’ creativity, critical thinking and overall personality.Faculty members of the Department of Second Languages, including Mr. P. Venkataratnam, Dr. S. Deepti, Dr. D. Koteswara Rao and Sr. Jane Thomas, actively participated in the programme and extended their support for its successful conduct.
The Inter-Collegiate Talent Competitions of Pratibha 2K26 served as a vibrant platform for students to showcase their talent, creativity, linguistic abilities and skills, while fostering interaction and healthy competition among students from different colleges.
