Visakhapatnam-Indian News Times -With the objective of promoting the safety and empowerment of the girl child and protecting youth from the dangers of drug abuse, the EAGLE Club of St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, conducted a signature campaign with the message “Protect the Girl Child – Build a Drug-Free Nation.” Students, faculty members, parents, youth and men actively participated in the campaign and expressed their support for the cause.
The campaign highlighted the importance of protecting, educating and empowering girls, while promoting equal rights and opportunities. The organisers emphasised that ensuring a safe, respectful and supportive environment for every girl is a collective responsibility of families, educational institutions and society.
Awareness was also created among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse on the health, education, future and overall well-being of young people. Students were encouraged to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The signature campaign carried the strong message: “Let us protect the girl child, safeguard our youth from drugs, and build a stronger society and a stronger nation.” Through their signatures, the participants pledged their support and commitment towards the protection of girls and the creation of a drug-free society.
Vice-Principal Dr. Sr. Hema appreciated the initiative. The programme was coordinated by Dr. E. Harini, Head, Department of Zoology and Faculty In-charge of the EAGLE Club. EAGLE Club faculty members Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Sudha Priya, Mary Vijayaratnam, Dr. Gouri Shankar, Anita Rani and Lakshmi, along with others, extended their cooperation for the successful conduct of the campaign.
