SOUTH COAST RAILWAY LAUNCHES MASSIVE CLEANLINESS CAMPAIGNS; GENERAL MANAGER SHRI SANDEEP MATHUR ADMINISTERS SWACHHATA PLEDGE*
Visakhapatnam -Indian News Times- VMRDA Duck -In a concerted effort to strengthen collective action for a cleaner environment, South Coast Railway (SCoR) announces the launch of three major cleanliness campaigns: Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, and Special Campaign 6.0. These initiatives will be observed across the railway network starting September 17 through October 31, 2026. Today, General Manager of South Coast Railway, Shri Sandeep Mathur, administered the Swachhata pledge to officers and staff at the SCoR Headquarters. Principal Heads of all departments, officers, and staff participated in the pledge in large numbers. To mark the occasion, GM SCoR also released the official campaign posters.
The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, running from September 17 to October 2, is themed 'Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat'. SCoR will focus on the transformation of Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) like railway stations, colonies, yards, goods sheds, loco sheds, and offices, while maintaining pristine public places. The campaign emphasizes youth engagement initiatives alongside welfare and health support for sanitation workers (SafaiMitras) under the 'Suraksha Seva Evam Samman' banner.
A major highlight of the SHS campaign is the simultaneous nationwide Shramdaan titled 'Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath' on October 1, 2026, led locally by GM Shri Sandeep Mathur. South Coast Railway appeals to citizens, railway staff, and their families to unite for one hour of dedicated volunteer work to promote national cleanliness.
To ensure comprehensive public participation and targeted action, various daily drives will be organized throughout the fortnight: such as 17–18 September: Swachh Paathshala – Yuva for Swachhata; 19–20 September: Transformation of CTUs & GVPs; 21–22 September: Swachh Stations, Swachh Rail Gaadi & Clean Public Places; 23–24 September: Jan Bhagidari Advocacy – SWM Rules 2026; 25–26 September: Sports for Swachhata & Post-Event Cleanliness; 27 September: Clean Tourist & Heritage Railway Sites (World Tourism Day); 28–29 September: Swachhata Se Samriddhi (Waste to Wealth); 30 September: SafaiMitra Suraksha Seva Evam Samman Shivir; 01 October: Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath (8:00 AM Mass Action) and on 02 October: Swachh Bharat Diwas (Culmination)To ensure the smooth execution of this national objective, all divisions of South Coast Railway are actively working towards 'Waste to Wealth' initiatives and eco-friendly celebrations.
