30% reservation should be provided for BCs in legislative bodies.

Visakhapatnam:IndianNewsTimes:Konathala Srinivas, State President of the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Service Association, welcomed the demand made by Rajya Sabha member R. Krishnaiah for 30% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in legislative bodies (Parliament and Assemblies). Responding to R. Krishnaiah's speech in the Rajya Sabha on Friday regarding BC reservations, Srinivas stated that providing 30% reservation in legislatures is essential for BCs to secure political power. He expressed concern that the Backward Classes, who constitute a significant portion of the population, are not receiving adequate political representation. He urged the Central Government to take special initiatives—as requested by R. Krishnaiah—to ensure political empowerment and welfare for the BCs. He called for the implementation of 30% reservation for BCs based on a caste census, noting that the Telangana government has already approved such a census. He also expressed optimism that the alliance government in Andhra Pradesh would provide 30% reservation to BCs based on a caste census.  He stated that the day all BCs (Backward Classes) unite, they will undoubtedly secure political power. He remarked that it has become a long-standing practice for certain political parties to play the 'BC card' only during elections and sideline the community afterward. Konathala Srinivas suggested that for BCs to attain political power, all BC associations must unite and move forward with a collective action plan.
