Ambedkar At the MLC camp office in Godi village, Allavaram mandal, Konaseema district, representatives of Andhra Pradesh RTC employee unions, JAC and Amaravati, politely met Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council member Bommi Israel and submitted a memorandum on the various problems faced by RTC employees. Speaking on the occasion, the union leaders said that after the merger of RTC with the government, about 16 thousand vacant posts have not been filled yet, resulting in a severe shortage of staff. They said that although about 15 lakh additional women passengers are travelling daily after the implementation of the Stree Shakti scheme, new buses have not been provided accordingly. They explained that people are facing difficulties due to the lack of buses to meet the rush of passengers during festivals and special occasions.
In view of the Godavari Pushkaram to be held next year, they asked for the purchase of 4,000 new buses for basic needs. They appealed to the government to review the financial burden on the RTC due to the operation of electric buses. They demanded that there be a serious delay in the implementation of the 12th Pay Commission in the issues related to the welfare of employees, that the committee has not been constituted even after three years, that interim relief (IR) has not been announced, and that the five pending DAs be released immediately. Similarly, they demanded that the process of handing over RTC assets to private individuals be stopped, that the closed RTC depots be reopened, and that the outsourcing employees be provided with minimum wages, PF and other legal facilities. Responding to the petition, MLC Bommi Israel said that the issues raised by the RTC employees are related to strengthening the public transport system. He assured that all these issues will be brought to the attention of the government in the upcoming assembly sessions and that he will strongly mention them in the Legislative Council to protect the interests of employees and passengers. RTC JAC leaders M.R. Krishna, Pandiri Rambabu J. Simhadri, S.S. Narayana, Janga Nageswara Rao, Srinivas and others participated in this program.
