Grand Valedictory of Three-Day Faculty Development Programme on Artificial Intelligence Held at St. Joseph’s College for Women

Visakhapatnam Indian News Times:August 7, 2026:A three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Empowering Educators and Researchers with Artificial Intelligence: An Interdisciplinary Learning” was successfully concluded at St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, on Friday evening. The programme was organized by the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematics in collaboration with Andhra University under RUSA 2.0, as part of the centenary celebrations of Andhra University.

Faculty members, academicians, and researchers actively participated in the FDP, which focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, modern teaching methodologies, applications of AI in research, and data-driven technologies. Eminent resource persons provided detailed insights into the latest developments and practical applications of AI in education and research.

The valedictory programme was graced by Prof. K. Ramasudha, Dean, Outreach, Andhra University, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in the field of education and emphasized the need for educators to adopt modern technologies effectively in teaching and research. She stated that the use of AI in research is opening new avenues for innovation and knowledge creation.

The programme was presided over by Rev. Dr. Sr. Shyji P.D., Principal, St. Joseph’s College for Women. Dr. Sr. S. Hema, Vice Principal, participated as the Guest of Honour. Mrs. K. Naga Sirisha, Head of the Department of Computer Science, served as the Convener and expressed her gratitude to the Chief Guest, resource persons, faculty members, and participants for their valuable contribution towards the successful completion of the programme.

A total of 30 faculty members and academicians participated in the three-day training programme. The college representatives who attended the programme included Mrs. K. Naga Sirisha, G. Deepti, S. Madhuri, Kumkum Dhara, Mrs. J. Anita Rani, K. Esther Lily, T. Susan Salomi, and Mr. M. Sandeep. Certificates were presented to all the participants who successfully completed the training.

The FDP equipped faculty members with essential skills to integrate Artificial Intelligence-based tools and innovative practices into teaching and research. The programme marked another significant step by St. Joseph’s College for Women towards promoting technology-enabled education and preparing educators to meet the evolving needs of the future academic landscape, stated Rev.
