Visakhaptnam:Indian News Times:12 August,A team of 44 scientists from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) visited the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on August 12, 2026, as part of the M-Career Management Development Programme being conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV).
The visit was aimed at providing the scientists with an opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the operations, logistics, infrastructure and strategic importance of one of India's premier major ports.
VPA officials warmly welcomed the visiting ICMR scientists and briefed them on the functioning and various activities of the Port. The officials explained the port's extensive infrastructure and facilities, including cargo handling operations, logistics systems, import and export activities and the movement of cargo through the port
The VPA officials interacted with the participants and addressed their queries regarding port operations, infrastructure development, logistics and the evolving role of ports in India's trade and economic growth.
The visiting ICMR scientists thanked the Visakhapatnam Port Authority management and officials for the warm welcome, informative interaction and opportunity to gain valuable insights into the Port's operations, infrastructure, logistics and strategic importance.
