Visakhaptnam :Indian News Times:Today is the date. 07.08.2026 Dr.P. Jagadeeswar Rao, District Medical and Health Officer, a review meeting of the Sub-District Maternity Death Surveillance and Response Committee on maternal deaths was held at the office of the District Medical and Health Officer. Speaking in this meeting, Dr.P. Jagadeeswar Rao said that in the month of June, 1 maternal death was reported in the Balajinagar Urban Health Center area, 1 in the Sontyam Primary Health Center area, 1 in the Sagarnagar Urban Health Center area, 1 in the Pedagantyada Primary Health Center area and 1 in the Tumor Primary Health Center area.  The District Medical and Health Officer said that the responsibility of ensuring that maternal deaths do not occur in the future lies with the medical officer of the concerned health center and the concerned ANM should identify and provide the necessary services to the pregnant woman in time. He advised that action will be taken if maternal deaths occur in the future, and that high-risk pregnant women should be referred to KGH or VGH without delay when they come to deliver, so that safe delivery can be ensured. ANM and ASHA workers should be made aware of the changes that occur in girls from adolescence and pregnant women should be made aware from the beginning of pregnancy. He advised that high-risk pregnant women should be identified early and health services such as vaccinations, nutrition etc. should be provided to them on time. He advised that birth planning should be done properly for high-risk pregnant women and that the pregnant women should be made aware of their health status.
