Narsipatnam :Indian News Times:August 16: Former Legislative Council Member Suryanarayana Raju stated that while changes in government are a common occurrence across the country, journalists possess the right to question whichever government is in power. The Anakapalli District General Body Meeting of the AP Working Journalists Federation was held grandly on Sunday at the conference hall within the Narsipatnam RTO office premises. A large number of journalists from across the district attended the event, creating a lively atmosphere as they arrived from various mandals. Speaking as the chief guest, Suryanarayana Raju remarked that political partisanship should be confined to the election period, after which everyone should work together to resolve public issues; he noted that political leaders in the past used to follow this approach. He urged the government to strive to resolve the legitimate grievances of journalists, adding that, in reality, journalists' issues would not be insurmountable if the government truly resolved to address them. Narsipatnam Area DSP Pothireddy Srinivas, attending as a guest of honor, spoke about the cooperation of journalists with the police during the discharge of their duties.  He described the experience as unforgettable, noting that cooperation from journalists has recently helped achieve progress in several cases and that their suggestions contribute significantly to crime control. He mentioned that although he has served as a police officer for over three decades, he has always maintained good relationships with journalists wherever he was posted.


Speaking on the occasion, G. Anjaneyulu, State General Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation, highlighted the rapid changes occurring in the field of journalism and urged journalists to remain vigilant while performing their duties. He pointed out the nuances of the Right to Information (RTI) Act and the impending IT Act regulations, advising everyone to enhance their legal awareness to avoid complications when writing stories. He also stated that the state executive committee is continuously striving to resolve pending issues and noted that the government has already addressed some concerns at the Federation's request.


  He stated that the state executive committee is continuously striving to secure benefits such as housing plots and pension facilities for journalists. Gantla Srinubabu, Secretary of the National Union of Journalists and State Secretary of the AP Working Journalists Federation, affirmed their unwavering support for journalists, emphasizing the need to address journalists' issues alongside resolving public grievances. He pledged to make every effort to facilitate the provision of housing plots and other amenities for journalists in Anakapalli district with the cooperation of local public representatives, urging journalists to remain united and work towards their collective progress. Meanwhile, Narsipatnam Town CI Gafoor described journalists as key contributors to societal progress. 


 At the meeting presided over by State Vice-President B. Eswara Rao, Anakapalli District President B. Venkatesh and Secretary Khader highlighted the issues faced by journalists in the district and briefed them on the progress achieved over the past year. Attendees included Federation 


Visakhapatnam District President P. Narayana and Secretary G. Srinivasa Rao; AP Broadcast Association (Anakapalli & Visakhapatnam districts) Presidents Bhasha and Eswara Rao, along with Secretary Kinthada Madan; Alluri District President P.D. Chakravarthy and Secretary Rahim; Narsipatnam Press Club President Prasad and Secretary Raju; Small and Medium Newspapers Association District President Jaganmohan and Secretary Srinivas, along with executive committee representatives Hari and Bobbara Prasad; and Federation Vice-President Nagesh Babu. Journalists from across the Anakapalli district participated in large numbers.
