National Women Empowerment Day observed at St. Joseph’s College for Women

 

Visakhapatnam:Indian News Times :Principal Dr. Sr. Shyji conveyed her wishes on this occasion and emphasised the importance of empowering women through quality education, financial independence and effective leadership. The Women Empowerment Cell of St. Joseph’s College for Women (A), Visakhapatnam, organised a guest lecture on the occasion of 

National Women Empowerment Day on August 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the college campus.  Around hundred first Degree Science Students attended the lecture.The programme focused on the theme “Empowered Women, Empowered Nation: The Role of Education, Economic Independence and Leadership.” Ms. Serena Veeravalli, Campus Director, Visakha Law College, was the guest speaker. She spoke on the significance of women’s empowerment in building a progressive and inclusive society.

 She emphasised that education plays a vital role in developing confidence, awareness and decision-making abilities among women. She also highlighted the importance of economic independence and leadership in enabling women to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.The lecture provided an enriching platform for students to understand the challenges and opportunities associated with women’s empowerment. The programme encouraged the young women students to develop confidence, pursue their aspirations and actively participate in social and national development.

The event concluded with a message that empowering women is essential for empowering the nation, and that collective efforts are necessary to create a more equal, inclusive and progressive society.The program was organised by Dr. Tonia Grace, Mrs . Veena Spandana, Dr. Deepthi and Sr. Jane Thomas.
