RTC Unions Demand Direct Operation of Electric Buses by RTC... Representation Submitted to District Collector...

Amalapuram :Indian News Times :Leaders of the District Joint Action Committee (JAC) submitted a representation to District Collector Mahesh Kumar, bearing the signatures of RTC workers from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, demanding that electric buses be operated directly by the RTC organization itself.

Protesting against government policies that seek to hand over RTC operations to private entities under the guise of an electric bus policy—and acting in response to the call given by the State JAC—the district RTC JAC leadership submitted the petitio

n, which carried the signatures of workers from the Amalapuram, Razole, Ravulapalem, and Ramachandrapuram depots.  

The leaders urged the authorities to: stop leasing RTC assets to private individuals under the guise of the electric bus policy; immediately reopen the Vidyadharapuram, Nellore-2, and Mangalam depots (which were closed for the benefit of the Pinnacle company); operate electric buses directly through the RTC and maintain them using regular RTC staff; ensure the Central Government's annual subsidy of ₹650 crore for electric bus operations is paid directly to the RTC; resolve issues arising from the 'Stree Shakti' scheme; immediately procure 4,000 buses and recruit 10,000 workers; restore the previous medical scheme for RTC employees; clear outstanding salary arrears; announce Interim Relief (IR); and constitute the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC). Participants included National Mazdoor Union District Secretary P. Rambabu, Employees' Union Zonal Secretary K.V.V.S. Narayana, United Workers' Union State Vice-President K. Ranga Prasad, and secretaries and presidents from all unions across the four depots—P. Maniraju, Janga Nageswara Rao, P.V. Ramana, S. Srinivas, G. Prasada Rao, D. Mallikarjuna Rao, V.V.V.S. Narayana, A.V.R. Naidu, and National Mazdoor Union State Secretary B. Asebu. A large number of workers from the four depots participated in solidarity.
