Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Visakhapatnam participates in Hon'ble Prime Minister's National 'Nasha Mukt Yuva" for Viksit Bharat' Campaign launch

Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar (SSSVV), Visakhapatnam, earned a rare distinction by participating in the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's nationwide "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" (Drug-Free Youth for Developed India) campaign through a live virtual programme organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports under the MY Bharat initiative.

Apart from other organisations pan India, among nearly 106 Sri Sathya Sai Schools across India, only 11 Sri Sathya Sai Schools were selected to participate in this prestigious national programme. Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Visakhapatnam, was the only Sri Sathya Sai School selected from the State of Andhra Pradesh, bringing immense pride not only to the State but also to the entire Sri Sathya Sai fraternity.

Launching the "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan" through video conferencing, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi called upon the youth of the nation to stay away from substance abuse and become ambassadors of positive social change by spreading awareness among their families, educational institutions and society.

The campaign aims to transform the fight against substance abuse into a nationwide people's movement by bringing together educational institutions, youth organisations, voluntary organisations, industry bodies and spiritual organisations on a common platform for collective action.

The national launch today, witnessed virtual participation from over 10,000 locations across the country. Many spiritual organisations, MY Bharat Volunteers, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, NGOs and youth wings of industry associations participated in the programme, reaffirming their commitment towards building a Drug-Free India.

Participating in the live programme from their school campus, the students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar joined thousands of young participants across the country in taking a solemn pledge to remain free from substance abuse and contribute towards building a healthy, value-based and developed India.

Addressing the selected participants across the nation virtually (online) , Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi* emphasised that the youth must play a pivotal role in building a Drug-Free India, stating that the true strength of the nation lies in the character, discipline and determination of its young citizens. He urged the youth to actively contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat by staying away from substance abuse and becoming responsible citizens. The Prime Minister strongly conveyed the message that "Drug-Free Youth are the Foundation of a Developed India."

The selection of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar for this prestigious national programme reflects the institution's steadfast commitment to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Educare philosophy, which nurtures academic excellence along with human values, noble character, discipline and selfless service.

*Value-Based Awareness Programmes Organised by the students*

As a prelude to the Prime Minister's national campaign, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar organised a series of value-based awareness programmes to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and inspire them to adopt a healthy, value-oriented lifestyle.

The programme featured an inspiring choir presentation on the theme "Viksit Bharat," which motivated students with the vision of a strong, progressive and value-based India. A thought-provoking Nukkad Natak (street play) vividly portrayed the devastating consequences of drug addiction on individuals, families and society, while encouraging students to stay away from substance abuse.

Students also presented Jyothi Meditation and Yoga demonstrations, highlighting the importance of meditation, self-discipline and yoga in developing inner strength and overcoming harmful habits.

A colourful cultural dance presentation reflecting India's rich heritage, cultural values and aspirations for a developed nation received enthusiastic appreciation and reinforced the message that healthy, value-based youth are the foundation of Viksit Bharat.

Addressing the gathering, Smt. Ayyagari Kaushalya, Former Principal of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, called upon students to become ambassadors of a Drug-Free India by practising human values, discipline, noble character and selfless service, thereby contributing meaningfully towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Reaffirming their commitment to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's ideals of Educare, Human Values and Nation Building, the students expressed their resolve to uphold these ideals throughout their lives. The students expressed immense happiness and pride in representing not only their school but also the entire State of Andhra Pradesh in this significant national initiative.

The programme was also attended by the members of the School Governing Body Smt. B. Sreedevi, Shri P. R. S. N. Naidu and Shri V. R. Nageswara Rao, Principal Smt. Chekuri Varalakshmi, teachers, non-teaching staff and students.
